Important Information About Your Medicare Coverage and Our Practice

We want to make sure you have all the information you need about your care and coverage before scheduling. Our practice is a non-participating Medicare provider, which means:

  • We do not bill Medicare directly for services.

  • You are responsible for paying our full fee at the time of your appointment.

  • We will provide you with a detailed bill (a “Medicare claim form”) that you may submit to Medicare for possible reimbursement.

  • Medicare may reimburse you a portion of the approved amount, but reimbursement will be sent directly to you, not to our practice.

  • You may also be responsible for any difference between our fee and Medicare’s approved amount (“excess charges”).

Before moving forward, we encourage you to contact Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) so you understand your coverage, reimbursement rates, and any out-of-pocket costs.

If you have a Medicare Advantage plan (instead of Original Medicare), please check directly with your plan to see if any out-of-network benefits apply.

If you have any questions about our fees or the reimbursement process, we are happy to walk you through the details.

Yes. You can:

Yes. Our physician is board-certified in obesity medicine and experienced with all FDA-approved weight-loss medications.
– Let us know during your first visit if you’re interested in learning about medication options.

That’s completely fine — this is your journey.
– We provide comprehensive support for nutrition, activity, and lifestyle changes.
– Medications are offered only if you choose; you will receive the same level of care regardless. – If you change your mind later, we can discuss options at any time without judgment.

Coverage varies and frequently changes:
– Most decisions are made by your employer’s plan, not the insurance company itself. – Some medications can be expensive.
– We help you navigate insurance coverage and discuss alternative options if needed.

No.
– National medical societies have issued safety warnings about compounded weight-loss medications. – We only prescribe FDA-approved medications (both injectable and oral) to ensure safety and quality.

– For emergencies (e.g., chest pain, fainting, severe abdominal pain, uncontrollable vomiting, facial swelling, difficulty breathing), call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
– For non-urgent side effects, send a message through the patient portal.
– Messages are not monitored 24/7; we respond on the next business day.

– Verify your insurance coverage using the patient script.
– Prepare for your virtual visit: private space, reliable internet, and bring any recent lab results or medication lists.
